5 Healthy Retro 80s & 90s Dinner Recipes
Taking it back to the good old days—with a nutritious twist! Think nostalgic comfort food, made lighter for today.
1. 🍝 Healthy Spag Bol (80s Staple)
Twist: Swap beef mince for lean turkey or lentils, and use wholewheat pasta.
Ingredients:
Lean turkey mince or green lentils
Tinned chopped tomatoes, garlic, onion, Italian herbs
Wholewheat spaghetti or courgetti
Optional: Grated parmesan or nutritional yeast
Why it’s healthy: High in fibre, lower in fat, still full of flavour.
2. 🥗 Taco Salad (90s Inspired)
Twist: No taco shell—just a big, flavour-packed salad.
Ingredients:
Lean beef mince or turkey mince with taco seasoning
Romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, avocado, sweetcorn, black beans
Greek yoghurt + lime juice as dressing
Optional: Baked tortilla strips for crunch
Why it’s healthy: Packed with protein, good fats and plenty of veg.

Twist: Oven-baked with an olive oil garlic filling instead of butter.
Ingredients:
