Are you suffering from shoulder pain or stiffness?

As we get older, it’s common for our joints to feel stiff or achy. Often this comes from inflammation triggered by processed or sugary foods, combined with not doing enough mobility or stretching. The good news? With a few simple habits, you can keep your shoulders feeling strong and mobile.

3 Tips to Keep Your Shoulders in Tip-Top Shape

  1. Prioritise Daily Mobility Spend just a few minutes each day moving your shoulders through their full range of motion. Arm circles can do wonders.

  2. Strengthen Supporting Muscles Weak upper back and rotator cuff muscles often contribute to shoulder pain. Gentle strengthening exercises, like rows , lat raises or shoulder pushes help create balance and stability. Always warm up first with shoulder mobility!

  3. Reduce Inflammatory Foods Limiting processed snacks, sugary drinks, and fried foods can lower inflammation in the body. Instead, aim for whole, nutrient-dense foods that support joint health.

    Foods That Help Reduce Inflammation

What you eat has a big impact on how your joints feel. Adding more of these foods to your diet may help calm inflammation and support healthier shoulders:

Fatty Fish – Salmon, sardines, and mackerel are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which fight inflammation and support joint health.

Leafy Greens – Spinach, kale, and Swiss chard are packed with antioxidants and vitamins that help reduce oxidative stress.

Berries – Blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries are loaded with powerful compounds that reduce inflammation.

Nuts & Seeds – Almonds, walnuts, chia seeds, and flaxseeds provide healthy fats and magnesium, both important for joint function.

Olive Oil – A healthy replacement for processed oils, extra-virgin olive oil contains anti-inflammatory compounds similar to ibuprofen!

Turmeric & Ginger – These spices are natural anti-inflammatory agents that may ease joint discomfort.
